Boris was the president of the Shanghai Russian Ashkenazi Jewish Community during the Japanese occupation of the city. He was arrested by the Japanese military police and sent to the Bridge House Prison for ten months where he was tortured. He died in 1962 and is buried in the foreign cemetery in Yokohama.
