This talk is available for viewing in the JCC Library. Please contact us for more information.
Centuries of Jewish history can be viewed through the prism of these treasures, the highlights of which include: The Frankfurt Mishneh Torah (ca. 1457-65) with text by Moses Maimonides, which is one of the finest Hebrew illuminated manuscripts ever created; a mid-18th century illuminated Italian “Esther Scroll”; Iraqi Torah cases and Rimonim and over 70 charity boxes. The talk will also touch on the parallels between the pre-eminent 19th century Judaica collector, David Solomon Sassoon and the Steinhardt collection formed 100 years later.
