Historical | He worked for S.J. David & Co. In 1925, he was living at 18 Conduit Road. He was interned at Stanley POW camp during WWII. He was living at the Repulse Bay Hotel when the Japanese arrested him. In December 1952, he sailed from HK to SF. He listed his American address c/o Miss L. Hope, 541 East 20th Street, Apt. 6A, NY, NY. At the time of his death, he was resident in the Peninsula Hotel, Room 346. The 1908 and 1909 jurors’ lists his brother, David Solomon Jephson, as working as a clerk at 3 Beaconsfield Arcade. He was an accountant. Perhaps David came to HK first as he shows up on earlier jurors’ lists than Harry does. |
