Historical

Her name appears in a Shanghai migration file (Box #10, Bundle #6). She was headed for Australia with Simon and Rosa and may have died in HK while waiting for onward passage. Olga may have already been in Australia.

A Leopold Huber (b. September 7, 1898, Budapest; d. May 26, 1977, Sydney) was already living in Sydney at the time of her passing. He may have been related. There may have been another daughter, Regina (b. August 11, 1894, Budapest).

In 1954, Olga was living at 139 Old South Hill Road in Bondi (Sydney). There were no other Chilfs living with her.

Simon’s gravestone says that he was a husband, father and grandfather. It appears that Rosa never married. Strangely, his inscription says “Simcha b’r Avraham” while hers says “Sarah bat r’ Yaacov”. Did they have different fathers?

There was a Fritz and a Hans Huber living in Shanghai in 1939. No idea if they were related. Fritz, Lore and Peter Herbert’s names are also listed on the same Shanghai migration document Perhaps Hans had already died.
