Historical | Son Boris/Bob Freiman and his wife Flora lived in Hong Kong with their daughters, Reva (Rebecca) and Miriam, from approximately 1964 until the early 1990s at which time they retired to spend their time between Sydney (where Flora had some family) and Tel Aviv, where Reva and her daughter lived. Eventually, the travel distance became too much and they sold their home in Sydney and moved full-time to Tel Aviv. Rob Dorfman wrote on 17 April 2021: “Bob grew up in Tianjin and lived in the same block of flats as my mother’s family. Upon graduating from secondary school, he joined the Shriro Group of Companies. I believe he was distantly related to the Shriro family. When the Communists took power in 1949, he and his family moved to Kobe, Japan and he continued to work for Shriro out of their Osaka office. He was transferred to Hong Kong in 1964 and eventually left Shriro to join our company, Herald International Ltd, in 1966. He remained with the company until his retirement. “Flora was born in Harbin and her family eventually moved to Tianjin, where she met Bob. Flora, incidentally, is related to the Olmert family and she is a cousin of Ehud Olmert, former Israeli prime minister. “Bob’s father, Abraham, moved to Hong Kong in order to live with the family.” |
