Historical | According to the death notice placed in the SCMP on October 26, 1921, he died at the French Hospital. He was employed at the time by the Transmarina Trading Company and had been in HK for 2-1/2 years. He was single. His parents died in 1936 and 1907 respectively, both in Amsterdam. After his mother died, his father married Hendrina (Hana) Speelman (b. 28 November 1872 in Amsterdam), daughter of Izak Speelman and Betje Hamburger, on 10 March 1909. She was deported to Auschwitz on 1 February 1943 and was sent straight to her death. They had no children together. |
